The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued updated guidelines for international students enrolled in U.S. schools for the Fall 2020 semester:
**Students attending schools operating entirely online may not take a full online course load and remain in the U.S. or obtain a student visa from a U.S. Embassy/Consulate abroad to join such a program.
**Students attending schools operating under normal in-person classes are bound by existing federal regulations. Eligible students may take a maximum of one class or three credit hours online.
**Students attending schools adopting a hybrid model—a mixture of online and in-person classes—will be allowed to take more than one class or three credit hours online. These students must obtain a new Form I-20 which certifies that all requirements will be met for the Fall 2020 semester.
